PLEASANT WRIGHT
Pleasant Wright's work
in clay and
fabric is a reflection of a life full of complexities and dichotomies
from which she has distilled wonderfully bold and direct statements in
both media. She grew up around art and artists with her mother,
who painted and worked with clay, and her father, who is a sculptor,
both of whom graduated from the Art Students League. Although
mainly self taught in her current endeavers, she received early
training
in theatre and fine arts in California. She was born in Bryn
Mawr,
Pennsylvania but has lived in many places, including Arizona,
California, Minnesota, Mexico and the past twenty years in New Mexico.
Pleasant works with New Mexico red clays that she gathers and processes
herself.
