Andreas Goff  Born in New England, Andreas knew he wanted to be an artist when, at age four, he begged Santa for an easel.  Although he graduated from American University in Washington DC with a B.A in Political Science, his life  was forever changed when he attended Native American pottery demonstrations at Pecos National Monument in 1973.  Helen Shupla, of Santa Clara Pueblo, hand fashioned beautifully symmetrical pots while her husband incised them with accurate geometric patterns.  "I returned home an enlightened beginner and immediately began my new career - starving artist."

"In my soul there is a deep respect and admiration for the Native American approch to art and life, so I strive to capture a sense of beauty and pride when I portray these people in my sculptures.  The classic Meso-American cultures of antiquity inspire my art work as well, says Andreas, "and the plumed serpent winds his way around several of my finest pieces of pottery." An avid petroglyph hunter, these ancient designs frequently find their way on to his pottery and sculpture.  He has sketched and photographed rock art on the big island of Hawaii, Vancouver Island, the Olympic Peninsula, throughout the southwest, Missouri, Lake Irie, Venezuela and Africa.

Andreas has done several of the annual Zora Neale Hurston Festival juried art shows in Eatonville, Florida (Orlando).  Zora was part of the Harlem Renaissance along with Langston Hughes.  "I'm ususally the only white artist in the juried show, and I am quite honored that my work is well received and appreciated there."  The elegance of African scarves and head wraps challenges the artist to capture pride and beauty depicting these subjects, and Andreas is certainly up to the challenge.  He is in private collections and galleries throughout the U.S.
